Eetbaar chocoboek

Voor De Kwartiermakers maken we ieder jaar een in chocolade gedrenkt relatiegeschenk; dit jaar werd dat een boekje: ’s Werelds eerste volledig eetbare boek. Bedrukt met eetbare inkt op ouwel (eetbaar papier) van Nederlands enige ouwelfabriek en gebonden met eetbare tyloselijm heeft het na een tiental bedrukte pagina’s een extra verrassing in zich: drie verzonken blokjes chocolade die het woord ‘HET’ vormen. Door te refereren aan verstopte semi-illegale informatiedragers als (zend-)radio’s maar ook bijvoorbeeld juwelen of wapens wordt het pionierende en ‘jonge’ karakter van De Kwartiermakers onderstreept. Het boekje is extreem fragiel en ongeschikt voor kinderen aangezien zij compleet hyper worden van de drukinkt met ASO-zoetstoffen. Een boekenlegger bevat het vereiste ingrediëntenoverzicht met de bijbehorende E-nummers. Fotografie: Arjan Benning

de Kinderombudsman

De Kinderombudsman komt niet alleen op voor de rechten van kinderen maar ook voor zijn eigen huisstijl. Heel bewust koos hij voor een heldere en Nederlandse uitstraling (niet alleen in kleur) met grote herkenbaarheid. Binnen de huisstijl spelen het gebouw van de Kinderombudsman en zinnetjes als ‘U hoort nog van wij’ en ‘Wij laten van je horen’ een duidelijke rol. We bedachten, geheel in de geest van jongeren, deze tagline en alle overige copy.

Nederland werd door de VN op de vingers getikt voor het nog altijd ontbreken van een Kinderombudsman. Marc Dullaert werd in april 2011 beëdigd door de Tweede Kamer als allereerste Kinderombudsman en liet afgelopen jaar al meerdere malen van zich horen. De Kinderombudsman controleert en adviseert het parlement en organisaties en maakt mensen bewust van de kinderrechten. Op die manier verbetert hij de positie van kinderen en jongeren in Nederland.

We bedachten de naam en maakten een logo voor De Nieuwe Kleren van de Wolf. Zij richten zich op verandertrajecten voor onderzoekers en professionals en doet dat op, jawel, verfrissende wijze. Rest van de huisstijl in ontwikkeling.

Maakten we al eerder de huisstijl voor de Kinderombudsman, voor de nieuwe campagne van de Kinderombudsman maakten we tevens de typografie en de grafische ingrepen in de online films. De films die aandoen als trailer bekijk je hier.
De campagne werd bedacht samen met Lemon Scented Tea en regisseur Anne de Clercq.

Maak een affiche die gaat over uitersten (denk zwart/wit), dat was de vraag. Gebruik maar 2 kleuren, zwart en wit zijn niet toegestaan, dat was de beperking. Een explosie van kleuren, dat is het resultaat. Ruim honderd ontwerpers maakten een affiche voor een expositie van Fontanel en Ship of Fools in samenwerking met Trapped in Suburbia en het Graphic Design Festival in Breda. De opbrengsten zijn voor Afrika.

Pingo is a Dutch company that provides advice and assistance in designing and implementing nature- and landscaping projects and the preparation of projects to provide funding. Pingo works for (local) government(s), environmental organizations and educational clients. Logo as a reference to a Pingo and a metaphor for creating something that didn’t exist previously, from the ground up literally. Colour (patches) based on Dutch landscape with typical 1/3 land vs 2/3 sky.

A pingo, also called a hydrolaccolith, is a mound of earth-covered ice found in the Arctic and subarctic that can reach up to 70 metres (230 ft) in height and up to 600 m (2,000 ft) in diameter. The term originated as the Inuvialuktun word for a small hill. (Wikipedia)

Lesser Gods don’t Exist. Poster for the Stichting Kinderhulp Bodhgaya (Children’s Foundation Bodhgaya) made from paper leftovers and scrap. Bodhgaya aims to help homeless Dalit (low caste or untouchables) children in Bihar, India and offers them education, medical care and a place to live. The heading in the back says: Mindere Goden bestaan niet / Lesser Gods don’t Exist.

Copy: Children’s Foundation Bodhgaya provides free housing for orphans and abandoned children; offering a home again, medical care, education and vocational training. Contribute to their future! Photography by Arjan Benning.

Short and witty texts are ‘hidden’ and woven into the identity to define the characteristics of De Kwartiermakers. Also designed a coding system for notification of the many different phases that are possible. *Process blue with black/blue, spot-varnish, embossed card and letterhead.

While we don’t think Dutch government considers her as one of the favorite products worth exporting this shit still seems to happen. Nobody knows if Tanja (her real name, Eileen is her fighter’s name) is still alive, once you’re in chances of surviving the decision to leave FARC are small, actually there’s no chance at all. But as long as nobody knows the saga continues… In the meanwhile we made this nice little shirtie as a moving monument for those who get directed the wrong way.

Project about a search for unexisting people that we tried to ’sketch back’ into society. We made some different composite sketches and stuck them around the city which resulted in a one-night stay in jail. The story got wrongly published in the newspaper so we invited the journalist under a con name for a contra-story interview and strategically placed a few undercover photographers. Turned out to be a little web phenomenon with postings on Woostercollective, Wired and many others.
